Job Description

Ensemble Schools is seeking a fun, experienced, and professional youth   choir instructor to teach part-time at The Music Shop, in Boonton, New Jersey and help us launch this in late February 2026! We are looking for instructors who will teach IN PERSON with consistent weekly availability.

Teachers can set their availability within our open hours as needed, but both students and school staff appreciate consistency and preference will be given to candidates with greater availability.

Successful candidates will have a strong music background evidenced by a degree in music performance, pedagogy, or equivalent performing experience, a demonstrated love of teaching, experience working with young musicians, a robust appreciation for punctuality, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass a routine background check.

Instructor pay is commensurate with experience and will be in the range of $40/hour. A 401(K) program with employer matching is available to all of our employees after 90 days on the job.

• Introduce Music Concepts: Design activities that help students explore rhythm, tempo, and foundational music skills.
• Select Engaging Repertoire: Choose music that is age-appropriate and fun for students to learn and perform.
• Prepare Students for a Showcase in June: Plan and rehearse a final performance that highlights students' progress and enthusiasm.
• Foster an Artistic Community: Cultivate a classroom environment that celebrates creativity, inclusion, and mutual respect.
• Coordinate with Staff: Communicate regularly with the general manager and staff to ensure the program runs smoothly.
• Be Consistent: You will be once a week for 60 minutes with the group.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching and leading youth choirs.
• Performance/conducting experience.
• Proficiency in at least one musical instrument, preferably the piano.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Consistent weekly availability.
